What we collect when you run a scan
The website address you give us, the pages and images we read from it, the sentences we chose to search for, and the results. We also store a one-way hash of your IP address so we can stop one person running the scanner a thousand times. We do not store your IP address itself and cannot recover it from the hash.
A scan and its results are deleted 14 days after it runs.
What we collect if you open a case
Your name, email, postal address and phone number; the evidence you give us of ownership; and the record of every notice we send for you and every reply we get back. We keep case records for as long as we are required to, because a notice sent under penalty of perjury needs a durable record behind it.
Who else sees it
- Cloudflare, who host this site and store its data.
- Our search provider, which receives the sentences we search for and the addresses of the images we reverse-search.
- Our email provider, for anything we send you.
- The recipients of any notice we file for you. Your name and contact details form part of the notice. That is a legal requirement, not a choice.
- The Lumen database. Google publishes copyright removal requests there, including the requester’s name, the rights holder’s name, the reported URLs and the explanation. Google does not pass on the contact-information fields. We will tell you before anything of yours goes into a notice.
Pages we read on other people’s sites
To confirm a match we load the page that appears to be copying you and store the matched sentence and the page address. That text was already published publicly on that page.
Getting your data removed
Write to us and we will delete what we are not legally required to keep.
